Reports to: Executive Committee / Board Chair. Works closely with: Development Director, Artistic Director, ArtOps, and Cabaret 313 partners, artists and vendors.
Role Purpose
The Executive Director manages Cabaret 313 administration and operations, supports the Development Director in fund development, and manages ArtOps’ contractual services including marketing, program, events, and financial.*
This is a hands-on, part-time role well suited for an experienced, highly organized arts administrator with a passion for music and customer service.

Founded in 2013, Cabaret 313 brings world class cabaret to Detroit, enhancing the city’s cultural fabric and fostering the growth of the art form through masterclasses and educational programs.
Core Reponsibilites
Board Relations & Governance
- Partner with the Board to develop and implement strategic goals aligned with the organization’s artistic, educational, and community mission.
- Support eƯective Board engagement, development, and communication.
- Prepare materials for Board and Committee meetings and ensure follow-up on Board actions.
- Ensure adherence to nonprofit governance best practices.
Operations & Administration
- Provide day-to-day leadership and operational oversight.
- Manage ArtOps contractual services: marketing, programming, concerts, events, and financial. Work closely with ArtOps department directors to create and execute annual work plans, production timelines, run-of-show needs/operational checklists for each performance/event (concerts, masterclasses, community programs). Review and approve all ArtOps work product (marketing materials, financial reports, etc.).
- Coordinate financial, event, and operational matters with the Development Director.
- Work with Development Director and Board to ensure consistent program quality and a welcoming audience experience.
Success Measures
- Well run Board and Committee meetings, internal operations, programs, and events that move the organization towards its mission.
- Smooth facilitation of ArtOps contract resulting in efficient and effective services with solid outcomes.
- Organizational growth while maintaining strong brand and standard of excellence.
Qualifications
- Leadership experience in nonprofit management, arts administration, or a related field.
- Strong financial and organizational skills andt attention to detail.
- Knowledge of or appreciation for cabaret, vocal music, or live performance.
- Experience working with community-based or educational arts programs.
- Experience managing events.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a part-time role.
Preferred Experience
- Experience working with a Board of Directors.
- Experience with nonprofit operations including workplans and budgets.
- Experience in music or performing arts organizations.
- Experience working with youth programs or arts education initiatives.
Work Hours, Environment, Salary
This is a part-time hybrid position (metro Detroit, MI), averaging 20 hours/week, that
requires some evening and weekend availability to attend board meetings, concerts,
masterclasses, and events. Salary $40,000.
