Cabaret 313 welcomes Tony award winner (The Color Purple) and multifaceted artist LaChanze to the Marlene Boll Theatre at the Boll Family YMCA on Saturday, May 20 for Feeling Good. Hailed for “her ability to deliver exceptional vocals mixed with authentic emotions” (BroadwayWorld.com), this Broadway veteran of several decades brings her charm to Detroit captivating audiences with an intimate, on-stage memoir presented through personal renditions of jazz, rock, soul and Broadway music.
Recognized for her extensive work on both Broadway and Regional Theatre stages, LaChanze received her first Tony nomination for Once on This Island. She later won the 2006 Tony Award for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical for her role as “Celie” in The Color Purple. More recently, LaChanze performed in the 2015-16 National Tour of If/Then.
