Detroit, MI– Cabaret 313 is pleased to announce the appointment of Maria Duey as its new Executive Director, ushering in an exciting new chapter for the organization as it continues its growth and expands its impact across the Detroit arts community.
Duey brings extensive leadership experience from the corporate sector, where she built a successful career in mergers and acquisitions and investor relations at Masco Corp. and other local companies. She currently is a member of the Board of Directors of Hooker Furnishings, a publicly traded furniture company based in Martinsville, Virginia. After years of supporting nonprofit and arts initiatives as a volunteer, including nine years as a board member of the Detroit Institute of Arts, Duey made the intentional decision to transition into nonprofit leadership and dedicate her expertise to advancing Cabaret 313’s mission. She will continue her role as board member of another leading arts organization, Detroit Opera.
In her new role, Duey will oversee strategic planning, organizational development, programming and community partnerships while supporting Cabaret 313’s continued commitment to artistic excellence and audience engagement.

I look forward to translating my corporate experience to build on the incredible foundation already in place and advance Cabaret 313 in their mission. I’m also especially excited not only about the season ahead, but about the opportunity to give back to youth through the master classes and educational programs that Cabaret 313 provides through proceeds from its shows.”
Cabaret 313, founded in 2013, has become known for delivering exceptional live performance experiences while adding opportunities for young talent in the region to attend “master classes” with the nonprofit’s visiting singers. Under Duey’s leadership, the organization will continue to strengthen its programming, deepen community engagement, and expand opportunities for audiences to experience the joy of cabaret.
Cabaret 313 began its 2026-27 season with a donor-appreciation event on Aug. 30 at The Seven in Ferndale, featuring cabaret star Billy Stritch. The first concert of the season is on October 10 at The Cube, featuring Julie Benko, who became a Broadway sensation as Fanny Brice in the recent revival of Funny Girl.
